Classes are offered on both a for-credit and not-for-credit basis and have quarterly start and end dates. Most classes are held in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate busy work schedules.

Refund Policy
Continuing Education classes are self-supported, and Bates will cancel a class if there are too few participants enrolled to cover the cost. If your withdrawal notification is given at least one business day prior to the first day of class, or the class is canceled, you will receive a 100 percent refund. Bates reserves the right to cancel, reschedule class times and/or dates, or change instructors. We will notify you only if the class is canceled.

Boiler Certification – Bates offers Boiler Operator Certification Testing in Class I Chief Operating Engineer, II and II Operating Engineer and Class IV and V Boiler Fireman.
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher Prep – Classes for students from business and industry who intend to obtain a Washington state CTE teaching certificate, also for current teachers who intend to obtain a CTE endorsement.
Construction & Trades – Includes courses for boiler, HVAC and welding.
Health/Sciences – Courses include phlebotomy, nursing assistant, CPR and first aid.
Public Safety – This area includes our Fire Recruit Academy and Emergency Medical Technician courses.
Transportation & Distribution – Courses include flagger training and forklift operation certifications.
GI Bill®/Financial Aid: Continuing education programs are not eligible for financial aid, including, but not limited to the GI Bill®, federal financial aid or state aid programs. If you are a veteran receiving assistance through the GI Bill®, please email VA Benefits at vabenefits@batestech.edu to check if the VA certifying official will fund your continuing education program before enrolling.
