As COVID-19 continues to spread, affecting every aspect of our lives, we have made the difficult decision to move Commencement to a virtual format. We are committed to finding creative ways to celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2020. The organizing committee is currently working on a plan to develop a celebration that appropriately recognizes the success of our graduates.

If you are eligible for graduation, please follow the steps below to ensure your participation in this year’s commencement ceremony.
- Complete a Commencement Registration Form
- Turn in your paperwork and pay the registration fee. (Note: the fee increases after Friday, April 24)
- Purchase your cap and gown.
- Celebrate your success!
Students can pick up commencement registration forms from the following locations:
- Downtown Campus, Registration Office, M210
- Central Campus, Front Desk
- South Campus, Student Services, A115

Order your cap, gown, and tassel for $34.50, plus tax. Extra and souvenir tassels are $4.50, plus tax. (Prices subject to change.)

Our gown color is royal blue, though the photo on the website may show a different color. You can pick up your order at the Downtown Campus Store beginning May 1, 2020.

Attention Walkers: Know before you go!
Rehearsal Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at 11:30 a.m.
Location: Bates Technical College, South Campus Auditorium, Rm E102/E103.
There is no need to wear your cap and gown for rehearsal.
Graduates must arrive at the Tacoma Dome by 5:15 p.m. Parking (general and disabled) is $15 in the Dome parking lots. Please note: Balloons and cameras (other than cell phones) will NOT be allowed in the Tacoma Dome. Reasonable accommodations will be provided by the Tacoma Dome staff for persons with disabilities. For more information, please contact the Tacoma Dome at 253.272.3663 or visit tacomadome.org. Tickets are not required to attend.
Please note: Names may not appear in the program if a student applies to walk in the commencement ceremony after April 24, 2020.
How to apply for your credential, degree, certificate, or diploma
Students must complete a Credential Application to apply for their actual degrees and certificates and/or a diploma application to apply for their high school diploma. Degrees and certificates are not distributed at commencement. All credentials are received through regular mail.
