Bates Technical College is located in Tacoma, Washington, approximately 35 miles south of Seattle and 30 miles north of the state’s capital city, Olympia. The college operates on three campuses, with over 600,000 square feet of classrooms, shops, meeting rooms, and offices.

The college’s business hours are Mon-Fri, from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., except for college holidays or emergency closures.

Traveling North or South on I-5:

  • Take exit 133 toward I-705 N/​WA-7 S/​City Center.
  • Keep left at the fork, follow signs to city center and merge on to I-705.
  • Stay on I-705 to A Street exit.
  • Go three blocks north.
  • Turn left onto S. 11th Street and travel to Yakima Avenue.
  • Bates will be on your left side: 1101 S. Yakima Ave.

Traveling North or South on I-5:

  • Take the WA-16 exit, towards Gig Harbor.
  • Take the Union Avenue exit and turn right on to Union Avenue
  • Turn right on to South 19th Street.
  • Turn right into the college: 2320 S. 19th St.

Directions to South Campus

Traveling North on I-5:

  • Take exit 128
  • Turn left onto S. Hosmer
  • Turn left onto S. 84th Street
  • Turn right onto Tacoma Mall Boulevard
  • Turn left onto S. 78th Street
  • Turn right into the college: 2201 S. 78th Street

Traveling South on I-5:

  • Take exit 129 onto Tacoma Mall Boulevard
  • Turn left and go to 78th Street
  • Turn right into the college: 2201 S. 78th St

Student services will be reduced May 9-20 for ctcLink implementation. Programs, courses, library, tutoring and student activities will continue as scheduled. Students can still email offices or drop off paperwork. Offices will reopen for full service on Monday, May 23.
