Job Summary

Learn valuable job skills and build your resume in the IT department. Under the supervision of the IT Director, the Student IT Assistant will be responsible for moving equipment, organizing our surplus, conducting a WiFi survey, and accomplishing a college wide IT inventory. Our team is looking for a dependable, customer service focused, Student IT Assistant with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn. Applicants do not need to have previous IT experience (however that would be very helpful), we will mentor and teach skills needed for this position. The IT Department provides many services to the entire college and our external customers. It is very important for the person in this role to help us create an environment where all people feel welcome, respected, and have a sense of belonging.

Essential Functions
  • Clean up and move equipment to and from various locations 
  • Preform a college-wide technology inventory 
  • Organize and prepare surplus equipment for disposal 
  • Conduct a WiFi survey 
  • Create a map of WiFi access point locations

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or approved equivalency     
  • Student must be receiving qualified work-study funding
  • Student must be enrolled at Bates Technical College  
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Have a pleasant and positive attitude 
  • Customer service oriented with a professional demeanor  
  • Responsible, dependable, trustworthy, well-groomed and punctual 
  • Basic keyboarding skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel 
  • Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse staff and other students 
  • Must have the ability to work independently and/or as a team member 
  • Use good judgement
