Job Summary

The General Services Assistant will assist in maintaining the shipping and receiving warehouse by re-arranging furniture, equipment, and keeping things orderly. The Assistant will also help with receiving and delivering mail and shipments across campus and will be responsible for assisting with some surplus document data entry. 

Essential Functions
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service to college community and outside vendors or contractors 
  • Help receive packages and greet vendors 
  • Enter shipping and receiving documents with accuracy and attention to detail  
  • Assist with mailroom operations and with delivering packages and mail across campus 
  • Assist with palletizing surplus equipment in the warehouse 
  • Assist with keeping warehouse orderly and tidy

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or approved equivalency    
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel    
  • Keyboarding skills  
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional, high-quality, courteous and responsive customer service with internal and external audiences of the College  
  • Must be willing to learn and consistently follow all required safety protocol 
  • Be familiar with or willing to learn how to properly lift light to medium size packages. 
  • Ability to communicate, understand instructions and recognize hazardous, unsafe or poisonous materials and/or products  
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to acknowledge and respect individual’s values and opinions to foster a harmonious working relationship with colleagues and/or students  
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor while recognizing and acting appropriately in order not to jeopardize the physical and mental stability and safety of colleagues and/or students  
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance on the job to best support business needs of the department and college
