Electrical Construction Assistant

Under the direction of the Electrical Construction instructor supervisor(s), the work study will assist in maintaining the cleanliness, origination, and day to day operations of Electrical Construction Program and spaces.

Maintain and organize the tool room and shop equipment, assist in maintaining and creating shop labs, perform light cleaning duties, as well as assist the supervisor(s) with additional necessary tasks.

This position provides invaluable experience in day-to-day Electrical Construction Program management and operations, bookkeeping, and the opportunity to develop customer service skills.

• High School Diploma, GED, or approved equivalency
• Student must be enrolled at Bates Technical College
• Have working knowledge of basic electrical construction and theory

• Working knowledge of basic electrical construction and theory
• Ability to understand and follow learned protocol in regard to safety (e.g. hazardous waste, equipment use, shop safety, lockout/tag out, others)
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and apply critical thinking to resolve issues
• Have a pleasant and positive attitude
• Customer service oriented with a professional demeanor
• Responsible, dependable, trustworthy, well-groomed and punctual
• Basic keyboarding skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
• Ability to communicate and work well with a diverse staff and other students
• Must have the ability to work independently and/or as a team member
• Use good judgement
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools used in construction
