Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Human Resources Office, the Student Office Assistant will be responsible for supporting the department with basic clerical and administrative duties. 

 

Essential Functions
  • Alphabetizing documents, filing, data entry 
  • Assist in developing forms and spreadsheets 
  • Word processing and proofreading 
  • Copying, faxing, and scanning documents 
  • Occasionally provide front desk coverage, answer the main phone, and take messages 
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • Student must be receiving qualified work-study funding 
  • Student must be enrolled at Bates Technical College 
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential job functions outlined in the description 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong basic keyboarding skills, good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel 
  • Working knowledge of basic office equipment and machines, operate a copier, fax, scanner 
  • Strong customer service oriented, with ability to communicate and work well with a diverse staff and other students 
  • Professional demeanor 
  • Responsible, dependable, trustworthy, well-groomed and punctual 
  • Have a pleasant and positive attitude 
  • Understand correct alphabetical filing 
  • Good phone etiquette 
  • Must have the ability to work independently and/or as a team member 
  • Use good judgement and exercise discretion 
  • Ability to work with confidential materials and maintain strict confidentiality  
  • Willing to sign a statement of confidentiality
