Students of Color Conference – Applications Open Today!!!

The Students of Color Conference (SOCC) is designed to strengthen awareness and knowledge within the context of social identity development, enhance skills that enable students to become more active proponents of their own education and life choices, and expand the opportunities and possibilities for students to become agents of change.  Open to students of all ethnic backgrounds and their intersecting identities. Apply before February 15th @ bates.ctc.edu/socc.

75th Legacy Committee:

The next legacy meeting is February 11th, 2016 from11:15am to 11:45am in the President’s conference room. We have chosen our projects and in our next meeting we will be discussing final plans and budgeting. Come join us and see what we have planned.

Electronics Drive:

Bates’ E-Cycle Event is happening February 22nd – February 26th, 2016 on your campus for students, faculty, staff, and our community! Check your public areas for volunteers who will gladly accept any used electronics. See you there.

Bates PC Repair Shop:

As we continue to set things up at our new location in the brand new ATC on Central Campus, we are welcoming any students or community members who need assistance with their computers or laptops. Come on by and let’s see if we can get your device back up and running again. Room B217 in the ATC. (Flyers coming soon)

75th Legacy Committee

LearningExpress Library, one of Bates’ Library’s most versatile academic databases, has been enhanced with new resources in areas that provide value to Career Training and Gen-Ed students:

  • eBooks: The eBook collection has been enhanced with Medical Assistant Flash Review, MCAT®: Power Practice, and new editions of Firefighter Exam, and College Placement Math Success in 20 Minutes a Day.
  • College Preparation Center: New ACT and AP Practice Tests covering English, reading, math, and science. Students preparing for the New 2016 SAT will get new practice tests for the Reading, Writing and Language, Math, and Essay test sections on February 1.
  • Career Center: New practice exams available for Applied Technology and Business Writing, with two exams each.
  • School Center:  A new high school reading tutorial aligned to the Common Core State Standards.

Now called the Blue Ribbon Scholarship Program, the program has been revamped to give every student in Washington a Fair Chance.
