Title IX. Bates Technical College does not tolerate harassment or discrimination. If you feel you have been harassed or discriminated against based on sex, gender or gender identity, please visit our Title IX reference page https://www.batestech.edu/about-bates/title-ix-at-bates/ .

If you have questions about whether or not to report an incident, you may ask questions anonymously. When making a formal report, there are limits to anonymity that we can discuss with you prior to making the complaint.

If you feel you are the victim and you do not want to make a formal Title IX complaint, or if you want to remain anonymous, we will still take a report and investigate it, but we may be more limited in the outcome. We can discuss your options and let you make the decision. We encourage everyone who believes they are the victim of harassment or discrimination to report it.

Counseling Center. Bates Technical College offers counseling services for students at no charge. If this is a service you would like to explore, please visit the Counseling Center page https://www.batestech.edu/student-resources/counseling-center/ .

Threats or Threatening Behavior. Most acts of violence on school campuses nationwide are told to other people prior to it happening, either by word of mouth or social media. The best way to combat the violence is to investigate threats made at or towards the school or the college community. While most threats result in little or no danger, we still assess every threat that is reported and respond accordingly using the current FBI and Secret Service process. If you have heard a threat and want to report it, please do so as soon as possible. You can report them here https://www.batestech.edu/student-resources/student-conduct/ .

Homeless Issues. While the school tries to stay on top of issues surrounding our homeless population on school property, everyone has the right to report concerns to the City of Tacoma, also. You may do this by calling 253.591.5000, by using the TacomaFIRST 311 app or on the city’s website at https://cms.cityoftacoma.org/cityqanda . Issues on school property should also be reported to Campus Public safety at 253.680.7111.

Non-emergency Crimes. If you need to file a police report for a non-emergent crime, you may do so by calling South Sound 9-1-1 at 253.287.4455. For crimes that occurred in the City of Tacoma, you may also file a report online at https://tacomasafe.org/ . If the crime occurred in the County, but not in the city limits of Tacoma, you may file an online report at https://southsound911.org/online-police-reports/  .

Remember that if there is a life safety emergency, please call or text 9-1-1, then call Campus Public Safety at 253.680.7111.

Campus crime, arrest and referral statistics include those reported to Campus Public Safety. In accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, the college publishes and distributes crime statistics to all current students, faculty and staff on an annual basis. The crime statistics are also available upon request to all applicants for enrollment or employment.
