Northwest Now: July 17 episode examines traffic issues in the PNW

Many Western Washington commuters spend more time sitting in traffic than the average Los Angeles resident does. In fact, in some cases, commuters fritter away more than two weeks of their lives every year sitting around on local highways.
Can anything be done, or are we just stuck with it? In Friday’s edition of Northwest Now, we talk to the region’s largest mobile traffic information company about the results of their annual traffic study. We’ll also hear from House Transportation Committee Chairwoman Judy Clibborn, who says the problem stems from bad decision making.
“Go back and look at the choices we made about not doing light rail, we had the money and voted it down. It isn’t just about bridges and roads that we decided on and I think there’s a disconnect in the minds of people that the choices they made so long ago are coming to root now,” Clibborn told Northwest Now host Tom Layson.
Plus, we’ll take a closer look at the traffic problem with a tour of the place where all those traffic cameras feed their data in hopes of helping you get out of your car and into the rest of your life.
