Maritime heritage museum featured on Friday's Northwest Now on KBTC

Posted: December 08, 2016

One of the many museums that call Tacoma home is dedicated to displaying the city’s rich maritime heritage.

In this edition of Northwest Now, we take a closer look at Tacoma’s Foss Waterway Seaport museum, located on the city’s historic waterfront. We’ll hear how the museum is educating both adults and children about Tacoma’s current and past role in the maritime industry.

Plus, we’ll take you on a tour of the museum itself. “We give a reason for people to come and visit Tacoma,” said museum curator Joseph Govednik. “Tacoma is really a jewel in the museum world now, and we have the highest concentration of museums in the state of Washington,” he said.

The Emmy and Telly Award-winning public affairs series Northwest Now airs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. on KBTC Public Television, a service of Bates Technical College.
