Q: How can I find out about current job openings at the College?
A: Visit the Job Opportunities page for currently open jobs. If you are interested in a job that is not open yet, you can sign-up for “Job Alerts/Job Interest Card.” This service will send you an email when a job you are interested in becomes available.
Q: Can I apply for more than one job?
A: Yes, you may apply for any open job for which you are qualified.
Q: What’s the deadline to apply to a job?
A: You must submit your application for open positions by 11:59 p.m. on the closing date, unless otherwise noted on the announcement.
Q: Can I add more information to my application after the deadline date?
A: Once you submit an application for a job, you cannot change the information you submitted for that particular job. However, if you apply to future jobs you can add or change more information at that time.
Q: I don’t have time to fill out the whole application at once. Can I do it later?
A: Yes. You can start your application, log off the system, then log back in and finish whenever convenient for you. Please note, however, that you must apply to a specific job before the listed closing date and time. Also, there is a 24-hour waiting period from the time you exit your application to the time you re-enter it again. Be aware that if you start applying for a position within 24 hours before the job announcement closes but exit the system without finishing it, you won’t be able to re-enter the system to complete your application on time.
Q: How can I submit all of the supplemental application materials required?
A: Your supplemental materials can be uploaded as part of your online application.
Q: How will I know if I am selected for an interview?
A: Only those candidates who have complied with the application process and have met the required qualifications will be considered. Following the review of application materials, the most qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview. Check the email account you used for the application process for communication regarding the status of your application or follow the status of your application in the “Application Status” tab in your online applicant account.
Application materials submitted to Bates Technical College are the property of the College and will not be returned. This is a competitive selection process. Your application materials will be reviewed and evaluated based on the minimum qualifications listed for the position. Applicants whose qualifications most closely correspond to the College’s needs will be eligible for further consideration. Notification of application status normally occurs 4 to 6 weeks after the closing date. Short notice may be given to applicants to participate in further selection processes which may include written, oral and performance examinations, and final interviews.
Q: I want to include a cover letter with my application materials. To whom should I address the cover letter?
A: We have a collaborative hiring process, so our interviews are conducted by selection/interview committees. It is perfectly acceptable to address your cover letter “Dear Selection Committee” or “Dear Interview Committee.”
Q: I previously submitted an employment application and now I want to apply for a different position. Can I have my previous forwarded to the new position?
A: Once you have completed your online application, you will always have the opportunity to update it and apply for different positions. However, it is important to remember that the new position you are applying for may require different or additional materials.
Q: I’m a current employee. Do I have to submit an application, résumé, and letter for an open job?
A: Yes. You must submit an online application, including résumé and cover letter.
Q: How do I remove my application from consideration for a position I applied for?
A: To withdraw from consideration, contact us directly at email@example.com.
Q: I applied for one job and a similar job opened. Do I have to apply for the other job opening too?
A: Yes. You must apply for each job opening separately.
