High School Student Options at Bates Technical College
1. Direct Funded High School
You will be a full-time Bates Technical High School student, not attached to your resident high school.
Take a series of courses to earn both a high school diploma and an Applied Associate Degree (AAS).
An associate degree typically takes 6 quarters (2 years), regardless of prior high school credits.
- Submit a Resident District Release Form.
2. Running Start
Dual credit program: earn high school and college credits simultaneously.
Remain attached to your resident high school and receive advising/counseling there.
Submit an Enrollment Verification Form (EVF) each quarter to register for courses.
Earn a high school diploma from your resident school and, if completed, an AAS from Bates Technical College.
Entrance Requirements:
Age 16–21
Provide an unofficial transcript
Obtain a release from your resident school district each school year
Provide your own transportation

Counselors support new and returning students in earning their high school diploma while working toward an associate degree. Each counselor specializes in specific career pathways and helps students plan classes, explore programs, and stay on track to graduation.
All students are required to meet with a counselor each quarter to register for classes.
