Bates Technical College provides ESL classes for non-native English speakers to improve English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Classes are taught in English.
We offer 10-week ESL classes at various times and locations to accommodate your work, life or academic goals.
- Morning (Downtown Campus)
- Evening (South Campus)
- Self-paced online
Anyone interested in taking ESL classes at Bates must complete the following steps:
- Complete an online application to Bates Technical College HERE. (Choose “Transitional Studies” for Program and “English as a Second Language” for Degree or Certificate. If you need assistance, please email us at esl@batestech.edu or contact our ESL Coordinator Rachel Smith at rachel.smith@batestech.edu.
- Complete English placement testing. Testing is held most:
- Tuesdays, 1:30 p.m., Downtown Campus, Room A223
- Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m., South Campus, Room E105
- To check if testing will be taking place on a certain day, or to find other testing dates, contact our Testing Coordinator, evelyn.jacoboguzman@batestech.edu.
