Instructional programming includes high school completion, pre-college level coursework in math and English and college-level academic coursework.

If you are a young adult between the ages of 16-20, you can also complete your high school diploma and associate degree at the same time in our technical high school.

Adult Basic Education
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program is designed to help adults improve their reading, writing and math skills. Students who are not academically prepared for college-level courses can enroll in ABE courses to brush up on their skills before they enter a career training program

Adult Basic Education (ABE) 80-level courses in mathematics develop a solid foundation of skills for students to successfully transition to 90-level algebra coursework.  Our ABE courses in English provide a similar skill foundation for students to successfully transition to 90-level reading, writing and English coursework.

Adult High School
Adults 18 years and older who have not yet earned their diploma find a great fit with Bates’ competency-based high school diploma program.  We evaluate your previous high school credits, work, military and life experiences to design a completion pathway unique to you. Our program encourages students to transition into college and career programs that lead to living-wage careers. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a high school diploma awarded by the college and will be ready for a successful and seamless transition to college.

How to enroll
ABE and adult high school courses are $25 per quarter.  ABE courses may be combined or taken concurrently with Adult High School completion coursework.

All students begin with a free assessment called CASAS. Upon completion of the test, you will work with the instructor to develop your individualized plan of study. The assessment is typically offered Thursday and Friday mornings during the times school is in session. Please call 253.680.7274 to get started.
